![]() Applicants for Parker County First Families and Parker County Pioneer Families Certificates Parker County Texas celebrated its Sesquicentennial year in 2006 and has a rich frontier heritage. First settled in the early 1850s, Parker County submitted over 400 names on the petition for obtaining county status, with over 6,000 people on the 1860 census. After the Civil War ended, many settlers poured into the county from both the devastated southern states and from the north all seeking a new life on the frontier. Eligibility: Those proving descent from settlers arriving in Parker County, Texas between 1850-1865 are eligible for the First Families of Parker County certificate. For those whose ancestors did not arrive until after the Civil War but before the turn of the 20th century, they are eligible for the Pioneer Families of Parker County. Anyone proving direct or collateral descent from a Parker County resident may apply. Collateral descent must be through a brother or sister of the early county resident. Collateral descent must be explained on the application. |
